Listen to three students plan a project
Press play and follow the conversation. Notice how Lena, Tom, and Sara suggest ideas, agree, and disagree politely.
Lena: Okay so we need to start planning our project. The deadline is next Friday, so we don't have much time.
Tom: Right. I think we should start with the research. That way we know what to write about before we do anything else.
Sara: That might be difficult if we all do it together - it'll take too long. What if we each research one part separately?
Lena: That's a good idea actually. Then we can share what we find and put it all together.
Tom: I agree. I can take the first topic if you want - I already know a bit about it.
Sara: Works for me. I'm better at design, so I'd rather make the slides once we have all the information.
Lena: Okay, so Tom does research, Sara does the design, and I'll write the main text. Does everyone agree with that?
Tom: Sounds fair to me.
Sara: Yes, but who is going to present it to the class?
Lena: Good point. What if we all present one section each? That way it's equal.
Tom: I'm a bit nervous about presenting, but I'll try.
Sara: Same - but I think it'll be fine if we practise first.
Lena: Exactly. Let's plan a practice session before Friday. Agreed?
Tom & Sara: Agreed!

Complete the planning conversation
Three students are sharing out the work. Drag the words into the gaps.
A: OK so if we split the work into parts?
B: Good ! I we should start with the research.
C: That might be if we don't have enough time.
A: True. Let's decide our first, then plan the steps.
B: I - we each choose what we're best at.
C: And then we can all one section each.

Explain how you would organise a project
Record yourself answering the three questions below. Try to use at least one phrase from each group - suggesting, agreeing, and disagreeing.
- 1 What role would you choose, and why?
- 2 What do you think the group should do first?
- 3 What would you do if someone disagreed with you?
Scenario complete
Great teamwork - you can now plan a project, share out the jobs, and agree or disagree politely.
