Listen to someone buy cinema tickets

Press play and follow the conversation. Notice how Sophie says what she prefers and asks about the discount and the start time.

David: Good evening! Welcome to the Odeon. How can I help you?

Sophie: Hi! I'd like two tickets for the seven o'clock showing of the new film please.

David: Of course. Which film - we have two starting at seven.

Sophie: Oh - the comedy one. I can't remember the title, sorry!

David: No worries - that'll be "Weekend in Rome." Great choice. Any preference for seats?

Sophie: Yes please - middle row if possible. We don't like sitting too close to the screen.

David: I have two seats together in row F, right in the middle. Would those work?

Sophie: That's perfect, thank you. Is there a student discount available?

David: Yes, twenty percent off with a valid student ID. Do you have one with you?

Sophie: Yes, here you go - one for me and one for my friend.

David: Great, thank you. So that's two student tickets - twelve euros in total.

Sophie: Here's my card. Oh - one more question. Does the film start exactly at seven or is there time before it begins?

David: It starts at seven fifteen after the adverts, so you have a little time.

Sophie: Brilliant. Thank you so much!

David: My pleasure - enjoy the film!
